Revoke the terrorist’s citizenship!

Wednesday, January 1, 2020, 17:37 Honenu Attorney Chayim Bleicher, is representing the family of Rabbi Itamar Ben-Gal, Hy”d, who was murdered in a stabbing attack at the Ariel Junction in February 2018, by Abed Al Hakim Adel A’asi, who holds Israeli citizenship through his mother, an Arab Israeli citizen. Currently R. Ben-Gal’s family has requested that Interior Minister Aryeh Deri revoke the citizenship of the terrorist. Bleicher presented the request to Minister Deri on behalf of the family and stated: “In the State of Israel, the state of the Jewish People, there is no place for murderous terrorists who want to destroy Jews. We expect the honorable Minister to respond to our request and act expediently to revoke the terrorist’s Israeli citizenship.”
Rabbi Ben-Gal was murdered at the Ariel Junction as he waited for a ride home to Har Bracha on February, 5, 2018. A’asi approached R. Ben-Gal, stabbed him and fled. After search which lasted for more than one month, the terrorist was apprehended in Shechem.
Over the past two years the trial has been conducted at the Central District Court in Lod. A’asi, who admitted to the murder before the court, was convicted of murder on July 10, 2019. On November 24, 2019, the court handed down a life sentence to A’asi. The court also imposed payment of 258,000 NIS in compensation to the widow and orphans.
